India New Zealand T20 Decider Strategy

Another T20 Match, more than 3 years after that dreadful T20 World Cup final, Team India still looks up to Virat Kohli to get them over the line. Otherwise, like those wide yorkers against Dhoni in that match, Dhoni and Team India still do not have a set plan to counter even the most known strategies.

Where do they go wrong?
T20's are not ODI's. All of their batsmen tend to play T20's like ODI's. They need to stop looking at only the averages and the landmarks. At least half -- 3 out of 6 -- of the recognized batsmen have to play T20's like T20's. Suresh Raina, for all his inconsistency, used to put the team before himself. An ideal T20 number 3 / 4 in the subcontinent! He has the heart to take those spinners in the middle overs to the cleaners; even if he perishes in the process. In the current team, if the openers fail, the spinners in the middle overs almost have no threat.

Of course, except for Hardik Pandya; if he fires! Of course, if their spinners forget their game plan against him and star pitching straight and full!!

What they should do tomorrow?
Fix the batting order. If Dhoni plays -- whatever wrong Robin Uthappa has done, Dhoni is either number 4 to rotate strike if on the other side, the batsman plays with a good, really good strike rate. Else, Dhoni must come after 16th over, for he only swings the bat if the death overs go on. Feel free to send the likes of Axar and Bhuvi before him, for they are not afraid of getting out while taking a spinner on.

In bowling, give first over to a spinner; could be Axar, could be Chahal. Let New Zealand batsmen force the pace in the first over. Of course, they won't. You will at least have a good chance of taking a wicket with one extra goldust over from Bhuvi still in the bank.
Ajantha Mendis was still a successful T20 bowler after he was discarded from other formats. It tells us that mystery bowlers stand better in the T20's. Let the China-man Yadav play!

When you go in with 6 bowlers, you have the leverage to use bowlers in the shortest spells. Use that leverage; of course unless B & B at the death. And, please, nothing in the good length area to Munro. Why would you want to do that anyway!
